MEMBERS? Members of Local 276 enjoy a work environment where fairness and safe working conditions are a primary focus. Members can be assured that they will receive a good wage and a benefit package that offers medical, dental and life insurance coverage as well as an excellent pension plan. |
THE APPRENTICE? Apprenticeships give those people interested in becoming a sheet metal worker or a roofer the unique ability to "earn as you learn". New apprentices start out earning a percentage of the journeyman wage, this percentage increases in regular intervals as the apprentice progresses through their training. In both sheet metal and roofing we require that all our apprentices undertake an extensive and comprehensive training program. These programs require the apprentice to serve a prescribed number of hours of practical trade training, as well as a corresponding amount of technical training.

|
THE JOURNEYMAN? With today's ever changing market place putting more demands upon our skills, it's our belief that we must keep abreast of the rapid technological improvements in our industry. Local 276 provides an on going series of upgrading programs to ensure that our members stay sufficiently trained to keep up to the constant demands of the construction industry.

|
THE EMPLOYER? Our members are the best trained, the most competent and the most productive in any construction market place. We are able to supply the contractor with the qualified work force, when and where it's required. With members in all regions of the island the contractors have the ability to bid work anywhere on Vancouver Island and know they can hire qualified local workers. |
THE CONSUMER? In the end it's the consumer who is the winner. When the consumer chooses a unionized sheet metal contractor, they can be assured that they will be getting the highest quality product and service from the most professional craftsmen available, in short the very best money can buy. |
